Commonwealth Crush, Mise 2022
The Petit Manseng grapes were sourced from a vineyard in Batesville in central Virginia with Hayesville clay loam soils. The Chardonel grapes were sourced from a vineyard located near Harrisonburg in the Shenandoah Valley. The Sauvignon Blanc was sourced from a vineyard located in Verona also in the Shenandoah Valley. Frederick loam soils with limestone and sandstone.
The Petit Manseng was de-stemmed, but left in whole berries, not crushed. Three weeks maceration, punched down once a day. Full malo occurring in older Burgundian 228L barrels. Direct press on the individual lots of Sauvignon Blanc and the Chardonel (except for 20% whole-berry inclusion on the Chardonel), then blended with the Petit Manseng. Four months aging and settling in fiberglass. Bottled unfiltered on June 30th, 2023.
