Bel a Ciao, L'Atlantique Sémillon 2022
Bel a Ciao, L'Atlantique Sémillon 2022
One of our favorite "orange wines" or should we properly say, "Skin Contact" wine using 100% Semillion grapes, this wine is pure, complex with bursting aromas of tangerine peel and wildflowers on the nose. Round and fresh on the palate, with spicy/savory notes. The finish is long and mouthwatering, with a pleasant touch of tannic grip and a light, saline character.
Grown and cultivated from a 25 acre parcel in Le Fleix (Dordogne, on the border of the Gironde, about 5km northeast of St. Foy). Clay/limestone soils adds to the minerality and saline mouthfeel and the vines average 25 years in age. This vintage is 100% Sémillon and certified organic by the Agriculture-Biologique (AB) in France. Macerated 3 weeks on the skins and fermented at 68°F in stainless steel tanks. Matured 6 months on the fine lees in concrete tanks.
Certified Organic | Biodynamic
Alcohol 12.5%
Size 750 ML
Pairings Excellent with lighter fare or as an aperitif, it will stand up to a hearty Cobb salad and boldly-flavored dishes. Also an ideal pairing with grilled seafood or savory cheeses.
About the Producer
Bel a Ciao is the latest project from “revolutionary” winemaker Olivier Cazenave, a Libourne native who can’t help himself when it comes to breaking the rules and flipping pre-conceived notions of Bordeaux upside-down. It is the desire to break the rules that sets Bel A Ciao apart.
Bel A Ciao is named after a revolutionary folk song of the same tune. Olivier has a revolutionary approach to winemaking. Olivier and his wife, Anne Cazenave Mullins, own and cultivate their vineyard with biodynamic methods in Le Fleix, on the east bank of Garonne River, where it flows into the Dordogne.
