Satelite gets its name from the numerous trips around the world winemaker Kiko Calvo has made to perfect his craft. And when we met him last year in New York, he couldn't be more excited for this rebellious red wine! Produced in an extremely low quantity - only 15 cases for all of the US - we were lucky enough to get our hands on this 100% tinta de toro.
It gives aromas of plums and figs, with hints of licorice, violet flowers and spicy notes of pepper and cloves. On the palate you’ll find all those ripe black fruits (blackberry, raspberry, plum, cherry), medium tannins & acidity with a touch of bitter at the end; very complex and balanced. Just how we like our wine!
This low intervention wine was organically grown over sandstone, clay and limestone soils. Grapes were hand harvested with spontaneous fermentation in old, neutral oak. Zero filtering or fining. Minimal-to-no sulfur used at bottling.
This wine is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
