Andeluna Raices Cabernet Sauvignon Mendoza, 2021
Andeluna Raices Cabernet Sauvignon Mendoza, 2021
Originally founded by the Lays family (famous for the potato chips), the name Andeluna is a combination of Andes--where the unique, mountainous soil, water, and altitude come together--and Luna (Spanish for "moon"), being a place of inspiration and magic. Both are indispensable ingredients for the creation of a great wine.
These cabernet grapes are carefully hand-selected from vineyards located at 1300m ASL in the Uco Valley of Mendoza. After maceration, fermentation is started with natural and selected yeasts and takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages in French oak barrels for a period of 3 months and then in bottle for a minimum of 3 months.
The lightest bodied cabernet we've tasted in a while, that punches above its weight. It has pronounced notes of cherry and green pepper on the nose and herbal, oak, and a hint of cocoa on the palate. It's very well-balanced with integrated tannins and a long, spicy finish. AG Vinous gave this wine 90 points (if you care about that stuff). 14.3% ABV.
